OPA Message 2/11/2021

February 11, 2021

Dear OPA Families and Staff,

It has been a busy week at OPA and we are all looking forward to a four day weekend!  As a reminder, OPA will be observing President’s Day this weekend and there will be no school on Friday, February 12 and Monday, February 15, 2021.

This Friday, February 12, 2021 is the Chinese New Year. This year is the Year of the Ox. Miss Shawna, our amazing Mandarin teacher, has been working hard creating videos with students and staff saying traditional Chinese New Year phrases, which will be shared with our OPA community. Xīnnián kuàilè, niú nián.

This year, OPA again participated in the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Congratulations to Marcus Chien in 6th grade from Saddleback Valley and Kahlel Martinez in 7th grade from South Orange County. These students did an amazing job and will be moving on to the County level. Good luck to these two champions!!

Thank you to all of our families that are participating in the Kids Heart Challenge. This is a great way for our champions to practice healthy habits, raise money for our school, and help raise money for a great cause! Please make sure to turn in your donations by February 26th.

As stated earlier in the school year, we will be allowing students who are currently 100% virtual to switch to hybrid (in-person) instruction for the third trimester, which starts on March 19, 2021. If you would like to switch from 100% virtual to hybrid learning, please fill out our survey by Friday, February 19, 2021. Only those families that want to switch need to fill out this survey.

Just a reminder that Open Enrollment for the 2021-22 school year will be starting on February 19, 2021. New families and siblings of current OPA students need to complete the open enrollment process by March 19, 2021. To apply, please go to www.applyopa.com.

Thank you all for your dedication and support. Together we can ensure that all of our champions continue to excel during these difficult times. We wish you all a safe and relaxing long weekend. Happy Thursday OPA!

Sincerely,

The OPA Administrative Team
