Volunteers are an important part of the culture at OPA and are welcome at all of our schools. For specific volunteer opportunities, please reach out to your specific school and/or your child's teacher. 

How do I become a Volunteer?

Gather the 4 required documents:
 
      • All volunteers must have an initial TB examination that consists of a Mantoux Skin Test or a TB risk assessment performed by a physician (this is valid for 4 years).
      • Documentation of tuberculosis clearance MUST be on file at the school.
      • A chest x-ray is acceptable if required due to a skin reaction or a medical circumstance. 
      • Tests are valid for 4 years.
 
2. Livescan (fingerprinting) Link to Request for Livescan
      • Fingerprinting by the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is required for:
        • Volunteer assignments involving contact or possible contact with students at school or on field trips where there is a possibility a volunteer could be outside the presence of a certificated staff member (teacher or administrator) even briefly.
        • Chaperoning field trips or after-school sports.
        • Coaching or assisting with special events, including dances, class celebrations, sports competitions, drama and musical productions, etc.
        • Providing lunchtime volunteer assistance.
        • This is valid for the entire time your child/children attend OPA.
        • Fingerprinting fees vary by location. The school does not pay this cost.

Step 3

Submit the following documents by email or drop off to the school's main office:
 
1. Proof of TB Clearance
2. Signed Privacy and Confidentiality Agreement
3. Signed Acceptable Use Policy

Step 4

The school will verify Safety and Security Clearances (TB clearance and Fingerprinting clearance). Once complete, you will be notified and issued a volunteer badge that must be worn on campus at all times.
